Innosea<\/a>, part of AqualisBraemar<\/a> LOC<\/a>, are pleased to report on progress made on the COREWIND<\/a> Project \u2013 COst REduction & Increase Performance of Floating Wind Production. COREWIND is a multi-national EU Horizon2020 project<\/a>, which aims at achieving significant cost reductions and enhanced performance of floating wind technology via innovation, modelling and optimization of floater, mooring and dynamic cabling designs.<\/p>\n

The project is led by IREC<\/a> \u2013 Research and development specialists in energy transition, and includes other project partners including: Cobra<\/a>, DTU<\/a>, Equinor<\/a>, Esteyco<\/a>, IHCantabria<\/a>, JDR Cables<\/a>, Politechni of Milan<\/a>, Ramboll<\/a>, UL, University of Stuttgart<\/a>, UPC<\/a> and WindEurope<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Innosea\u2019s role on the project focusses on the design and optimisation of station keeping systems (moorings and anchors). So far Innosea\u2019s work has been focussed on the theoretical and concept design side of innovative solutions for optimised mooring systems. The emphasis in 2021 is on the analysis of the technological and cost benefit of peak load reduction systems and shared mooring lines and anchors.<\/p>\n

Overall the project aims to prove the benefits of concrete-based floating sub-structure concepts, in obtaining a levelized cost of energy reduction of at least 15% compared to bottom-fixed offshore wind. It also reinforces Europe\u2019s reputation as a leading player in the development of cutting-edge and highly competitive technology in offshore wind power, specifically in floating wind.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a pleasure to be part of the COREWIND consortium, which is central to accelerating cost-competitiveness and enhanced productivity in floating wind technology. The findings of the project are not only important to accelerating development of floating wind in Europe, but also can be disseminated for the benefit of the wider global offshore wind community, to accelerate construction of offshore wind plants in deeper waters elsewhere in the world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The project will hold its 2nd virtual information dissemination event on 25th<\/sup> February<\/a>. This will discuss the project status with a review from the different project partners.<\/p>\n
