{"id":10903,"date":"2021-01-04T12:00:48","date_gmt":"2021-01-04T12:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/?p=10903"},"modified":"2021-01-04T12:00:48","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T12:00:48","slug":"in-memory-of-peter-holloway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/in-memory-of-peter-holloway\/","title":{"rendered":"In Memory of Peter Holloway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With great sadness we announce that Peter Holloway, formerly the managing director of LOC in London, passed away suddenly on the weekend before Christmas.\u00a0 We are sure that all of his former colleagues, clients and many friends in the shipping industry join us in sending our deepest condolences to his Partner Elizabeth Usher and her son Sebastian.\u00a0 Details of funeral arrangements have yet to be announced, and a charity of Elizabeth\u2019s choice will be advised.<\/p>\n<p>Peter started with LOC in the Middle East in 1994, taking over the management of the region in 2000.\u00a0 From 2002 he led the management of London, Europe and Africa until he retired in 2015.\u00a0 He was highly respected by all his colleagues and led from the front with frequent attendances, being an active Special Casualty Representative.\u00a0 Since retiring, he continued working on various legal cases as a consultant to LOC.<\/p>\n<p>An early tribute to Peter came from <a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/our-people\/david-pockett\/\">David Pockett<\/a>, one of the four founders of LOC.\u00a0 We are pleased to include David\u2019s tribute with this announcement:<\/p>\n<p><i>I first met Peter when he came for an interview at our offices in Plaisterer\u2019s Court well over 20 years ago.\u00a0 It was a most enjoyable interview and it did not take very long to decide that he would fit very nicely in the Group.\u00a0 He first went to the Middle East where he soon managed the Abu Dhabi office.\u00a0 Later, he became the overall manager of the Middle East offices and enjoyed many successes during his period in charge.\u00a0 His versatility was a tremendous advantage.\u00a0 He was a very competent rig mover, warranty surveyor, casualty responder in the widest sense as well as having a specific interest in pollution related cases where his environmental science degree stood him in good stead.\u00a0 Above all else, he was steadfastly loyal and would go anywhere at any time without complaint.\u00a0 The epitome of an emergency responder who led by example.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Peter was tremendous company socially \u2013 extremely witty and with a keen sense of humour.\u00a0 He had forthright views and was never backward in being forward with them!\u00a0 However, he was a good, solid friend and a great support throughout.\u00a0 His enthusiasm for Ferraris was infectious as was his wandering spirit.\u00a0 His stories about working in a kibbutz and being the driver on a busman\u2019s holiday all over Europe will stay with me forever!\u00a0 I was always amazed at his choices for vacations \u2013 to places that most of us would shy away from.\u00a0 Peter however, always wanted to explore and discover somewhere new and unheard of!\u00a0 <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>His premature passing is a tragic loss to his family and also his many friends and colleagues.\u00a0 He will be very sadly missed.\u00a0 Drive on Peter and be at peace in your new resting place.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>David\u2019s words reflect the thoughts of so many of us.\u00a0 If others would like to provide their reminiscences of Peter or send condolences to his family, we will be pleased to pass them on.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With great sadness we announce that Peter Holloway, formerly the managing director of LOC in London, passed away suddenly on the weekend before Christmas.\u00a0 We are sure that all of his former colleagues, clients and many friends in the shipping industry join us in sending our deepest condolences to his Partner Elizabeth Usher and her [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":5894,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"sector":[],"service":[],"company":[],"class_list":["post-10903","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v23.6 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
