{"id":10783,"date":"2020-12-16T11:20:32","date_gmt":"2020-12-16T11:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/?p=10783"},"modified":"2020-12-16T11:20:32","modified_gmt":"2020-12-16T11:20:32","slug":"loc-france-completes-its-role-on-the-ifa2-interconnector-installation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/loc-france-completes-its-role-on-the-ifa2-interconnector-installation\/","title":{"rendered":"LOC France completes its role on the IFA2 Interconnector Installation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/offices\/europe-africa\/paris\/\">LOC France<\/a>, a subsidiary of <a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/\">LOC Group<\/a>, the premier international marine and engineering consulting firm, is pleased to announce that, under a contract won in 2017 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte-france.com\/en\">RTE<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgrid.com\/\">National Grid<\/a>, it has completed the provision of <a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/services\/loss-prevention\/marine-warranty-survey\/\">Marine Warranty Survey (MWS)<\/a> services for the cable transport and installation operations for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgrid.com\/ifa2-interconnector\/connecting-britain-to-clean-energy\">IFA2 Interconnector<\/a>, between the UK and France.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst the project was managed from LOC France, the execution was a collaborative effort between LOC teams in both Paris and <a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/offices\/europe-africa\/london\/\">London<\/a>. LOC\u2019s engineering, design and analysis arms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longitude-engineering.com\/\">Longitude Engineering<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/innosea.co.uk\/\">Innosea<\/a>, also contributed to the project.<\/p>\n<p>Longitude provided a range of technical analyses to support the mobilisation of the construction vessels used and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longitude-engineering.com\/services\/marine-operations-engineering\/cable-installation\/\">cable transport and installation operations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Innosea, the Group\u2019s technical engineering and support services consultancy, provided <a href=\"http:\/\/innosea.co.uk\/services\/\">engineering studies related to the mooring design for the cable<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The IFA2 is a joint project between RTE and National Grid. It is the second interconnector running between the UK and France, with a total length of 204km and a high-voltage link capacity of 1GW. The interconnector will contribute to the redistribution of low-carbon energy between both countries.<\/p>\n<p>As stated by RTE: \u201cIFA2 will help RTE and National Grid to cope with the growth of electricity exchanges between France and UK, by increasing the cross-border capacity of 50%. This project will promote the complementarity of existing and future offshore production facilities on both sides of the Channel and the North Sea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This project follows other collaborations between LOC France and RTE, France\u2019s leading electricity transmission operator. LOC\u2019s Paris team currently supports RTE on other <a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/renewable-services\/\">renewable energy projects<\/a> with a range of services at different project stages, including working as \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/renewable-service\/renewable-energy-project-management\/\">owners engineer<\/a>\u2019 on a current offshore wind development.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/our-people\/hugues-delanoue-2\/\">Hugues Delanoue<\/a>, Managing Director at LOC Paris, commented:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cLOC France was delighted to have been part of such a prominent international project in accelerating initiatives towards net-zero targets on carbon emissions. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This project is a good reflection of the broad range of project services we can provide at different project stages, through close co-operation with other branches of <a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/renewable-services\/\">LOC Renewables<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>LOC has significant experience in supporting subsea interconnector projects at different stages of a project, with expertise in MWS,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/renewable-services\/engineering\/\">early engineering consulting<\/a> for marine operations, transportation and installation of subsea cables, mooring design consulting, Cable repair work, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longitude-engineering.com\/services\/marine-design-upgrade-conversion\/\">vessel design<\/a> for O&amp;M vessels and acting as <a href=\"https:\/\/loc-group.com\/renewable-service\/renewable-energy-project-management\/\">owner\u2019s engineer<\/a>.
