LOC Renewables<\/a>, a division of LOC Group<\/a>, the premier international marine and engineering consulting firm, recently completed its role as Marine Warranty Surveyor (\u201cMWS\u201d)<\/a> on the Windfloat Atlantic Project. This involved the installation of the largest turbine to be mounted on a floating platform to date<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The project involved a single Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (\u201cSPMT\u201d) loadout and float-off for one floater in the port of Ferrol, Spain. LOC then oversaw the integration of MVOW 8.4MW Wind Turbine Generators\u2019 (\u201cWTGs\u201d) onto floaters in the port of Ferrol, Spain.<\/p>\n

LOC also provided MWS services for the installation of the mooring systems, the sail away from Ferrol, arrival on site and \"\"hook-up to moorings and the installation of array cabling<\/a> including pull-in of the dynamic riser.<\/p>\n

The project spanned from 2019 to June 2020, with LOC working alongside Windplus S.A.<\/a><\/p>\n

Commenting, Peter Croll <\/a><\/strong>Renewables Technical Director of LOC Group, commented:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very pleased to have concluded our works on the Windfloat Atlantic Project. Whilst this was a very challenging project, due to the deep-water location, it was a fascinating one to be involved in, and LOC\u2019s role within the installation team contributed to the successful outcome.<\/em><\/p>\n

Working on this project reaffirms our reputation of having long-term marine experience with floaters and subsea infrastructure, leaving us well positioned to support other floating offshore wind<\/a> technology projects in the future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
