We worked closely with the developer, the insurance underwriters and brokers to identify the key reviews and surveys for this project. These include attending on-site for the first performance of each key operation to provide the necessary assurance to developer and insurer. If it is performed well then the surveyor need not attend each time the operation is repeated, thus saving considerable costs.<\/p>\n<p>Our work includes the review of procedures and making recommendations on their implementation, attendance on-site and the issue of Certificates of Approval before each first key operation of monopole foundation, tower, nacelle and blade installation, transformer platform, scour protection and directional drilling operations for the export cables. We were in attendance for the whole export cable transportation and installation phase and witnessed the first ten array cable installations.\u00a0 LOC also carried out surveys of the principal offshore jack-ups, barges and their support craft and reported on their suitability.<\/p>\n<h2>Brief Project Details<\/h2>\n<p>The site developers are E.on Climate &amp; Renewables UK Humber Wind Ltd., a subsidiary of E.on. The development involved the installation of a 219 MW wind farm comprising of 73 wind turbines located five miles off the Yorkshire coast, just north of the entrance to the River Humber. Soil conditions, sand waves, clay huts and high tidal flows all provided additional construction challenges, which had to be properly engineered and carefully implemented.<\/p>\n<p>A wide selection of vessels was used on this site including jack-up crane barges, heavy lift vessels, \u201c<em>Atlantic Carrier<\/em>\u201d \u201c<em>Siddis Mariner<\/em>\u201d and \u201c<em>Furgo Saltire<\/em>\u201d for array cable installation, \u201c<em>Stemat Spirit<\/em>\u201d for the export cable laying and ploughing, dredger for cable route preparation and the jack\u2011up vessels, \u201c<em>MPI Resolution\u201d, \u201cMPI Discovery<\/em>\u201d and \u201c<em>MPI Adventure<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sunderland, Grimsby, Immingham and Vlissingen were used as mobilisation and transhipment ports.<\/p>\n<p>Looking for a professional marine warranty surveyor?
